Alpine Rams Secure Historic First Win in Nailbiter Against the London Warriors
When the Alpine Rams traveled to London, the stakes could not have been clearer for both sides. The London Warriors made their mission obvious from the opening drive, but in the end, the Rams took home the win.
FINAL SCORE: ALPINE RAMS AT LONDON WARRIORS – 23:20
WARRIORS CONTROL THE FIRST HALF
The Warriors came out with a statement. Their defense drew first blood, a safety putting London up two points and setting the tone for what they wanted this game to look like. The crowd was alive and the Warriors had all the momentum. The Rams looked unsettled, unable to find their rhythm, and London was happy to keep it that way.
Marcus Libman, the Warriors‘ new American wide receiver, hauled in a stunning 46 yard catch to extend the pressure on the Rams. Shortly after, Raymond Sobowale ran it in for a touchdown. London were firing on all cylinders and Alpine were struggling to find any kind of answer. But after that bright spell, the Warriors stalled.
In the second quarter, the Warriors managed only a field goal to add three points to the board. London headed into halftime with a lead they had earned, but a momentum they were about to lose. Another touchdown in the fourth quarter was not enough to save London in the end.
RAMS FLIPPED THE GAME
The second half was a different story entirely and the Rams twisted the knife. Kevin Kaya announced himself in a major way: Quarterback Seth Morgan found him on back to back big plays right out of the gate after halftime and suddenly the Rams were rolling. Six receptions, 110 yards, one touchdown. Kaya was the best player on the field when it mattered most and he dragged his team back into the contest almost single handedly. Then Braden Price delivered the decisive moment with an interception that swung possession at exactly the right time.
By the midpoint of the third quarter the Alpine Rams had the lead for the first time all game and they never let it go. For a franchise that had never tasted victory in the AFLE, getting it done on the road, after a shaky start, in a game that went to the very last seconds, that means everything. The Alpine Rams showed character and resilience when their backs were against the wall, and that is the kind of thing you cannot coach.
