Ben Holmes remains quarterback of the Vienna Vikings

The Vienna Vikings have secured one of their most important players of the past two seasons for their first year in The League Europe. Quarterback Ben Holmes will continue to lead the Vikings offense in 2026.

Since joining the team, Holmes has become a central figure in the organization and a leader on and off the field.

Strong college foundation

Holmes began his college career at Nassau Community College, where he quickly made an impact. He was named Freshman of the Year and earned Junior College All-American honors.

He later transferred to Tarleton State University. There, he led the Division II program to 23 wins in 25 games, proving himself as a winner and strong leader.

Professional experience and Grey Cup champion

After college, Holmes gained experience in several professional leagues. He played for the Arizona Rattlers in the Indoor Football League and for the Sea Lions in The Spring League.

He later had stops in the United States Football League and the Canadian Football League. In 2022, he was part of the Toronto Argonauts roster and won the Grey Cup as the team’s third quarterback, adding a championship title to his professional career.

A perfect match in Vienna

The Vienna Vikings signed Holmes for the 2024 season, and from the beginning it looked like a perfect match. Over the past two seasons, he played 22 regular season games and recorded 5,390 passing yards, 74 touchdowns, and only 10 interceptions.

He led the Vikings to the Championship Game in back-to-back seasons. Although the team fell short both times, his performances showed his quality at the highest level.

In 2024, Holmes was named to the All-Star First Team, underlining his outstanding season.

Chasing the championship dream

Many fans call him “BenVP” because of his impact and leadership. Now, Holmes and the Vienna Vikings will once again aim for the ultimate goal.

Together, they want to turn the dream of winning a championship into reality in The League Europe.
