Berlin Thunder appoint Shawn Cooper as new head coach

The Berlin Thunder have found their new head coach in Shawn Cooper. He will lead the team into their first The League Europe season and bring both college and European football experience to the sideline.

Strong background in college football

Cooper brings an impressive résumé from the NAIA college football level. He spent nine seasons at Arizona Christian University, where he worked as wide receivers coach, passing game coordinator, and recruiting coordinator.

During his time at ACU, he also held several additional roles, including Director of Operations, Travel Coordinator, Video Coordinator, and Quality Control Assistant.

Cooper helped the program win four conference titles and coached three All-Americans. The team also reached the NAIA playoffs twice and consistently ranked among the top offenses in both yards and points.

Experience in European football

Cooper is no stranger to European football. He previously served as offensive coordinator of the Barcelona Dragons and most recently worked as offensive coordinator of the Fehérvár Enthroners last season.

This international experience gives him valuable insight as he now takes over the Berlin Thunder.

Building the team for the new season

The first players for the upcoming season have already been announced, including last year’s Rookie of the Year Tyler Foster. Together with Cooper, they will aim to bring Berlin back to playoff contention and build a successful new chapter for the franchise.
