Former Berlin Thunder lineman Felix Lepper receives NFL rookie minicamp invitations
Former Berlin Thunder offensive lineman Felix Lepper is one step closer to making his NFL dream a reality. After going undrafted in this year’s NFL Draft, Lepper has received rookie minicamp invitations from two of the league’s most prominent franchises, the New York Giants and the Kansas City Chiefs.
A journey through the NFL International Player Pathway Program
Lepper spent the past months preparing for the NFL Draft through the NFL International Player Pathway Program, a program designed to give elite international players the opportunity to develop their skills and showcase their talent in front of NFL scouts. His performances at the combine were enough to attract the attention of two NFL clubs, a remarkable achievement for a player who developed his game in European football.
Two chances to prove himself
Although Lepper was not selected in the draft, the minicamp invitations from the Giants and the Chiefs give him the opportunity to get back in front of coaches and fight for a roster spot. Thanks to the NFL’s continued push towards globalisation, every team has an additional practice squad spot reserved for an international player, giving Lepper a realistic pathway onto an NFL roster.
For Felix Lepper and for European football, this is a proud moment. A player who made his name with the Berlin Thunder is now knocking on the door of the biggest stage in American football.
