Joshua Fitzgerald to lead Alpine Rams in historic first season
The Alpine Rams have appointed Joshua Fitzgerald as Head Coach and General Manager for the first season in franchise history. The 37-year-old American will lead the Swiss organization into its debut year in The League Europe.
With his experience and energy, Fitzgerald is ready to build the foundation for the Rams’ future.
From player to coach
Fitzgerald played college football as a running back at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After his playing career, he quickly moved into coaching and has now collected 13 years of coaching experience despite his young age.
His background as a player helps him understand the game from the athletes’ perspective and brings valuable insight to his coaching style.
Coaching experience in Europe
Before joining the Alpine Rams, Fitzgerald spent five years as Head Coach of the Hannover Stampeders. He also worked in the European League of Football as Wide Receiver Coach for the Helvetic Mercenaries.
During that season, he stepped up in the second half of the year and took over as Interim Head Coach, following Marcus Herford. This experience gave him valuable insight into leading a professional team at a high level.
Ready to build the Rams
Now, Fitzgerald takes on the dual role of Head Coach and General Manager for the Alpine Rams. His task is not only to prepare the team on the field, but also to help build the structure of the franchise from day one.
He is highly motivated to guide the Swiss franchise toward success and to create a strong identity for the Rams in their first season.
