Rhein Fire Dominate Paris Lights and March Closer to the Playoffs

Motivated Fire Come Out Swinging
The frustration of their Week 9 loss to the Vienna Vikings was written all over the Rhein Fire from the first snap. Jonathan Scott set the tone with two rushing touchdowns in the opening quarter, and the physical brand of football the Fire brought to the game never let up. It was clear from early on that this would be a long afternoon for the Paris Lights.
Lights Show a Spark, Then Fade
Paris did have their moment. Homegrown running back Armand Soulerot powered through for a score to cut the deficit and briefly gave the Lights some hope. But Rhein Fire responded emphatically, and a string of turnovers from Paris handed the Fire even more opportunities to extend their lead. New Lights quarterback Dequann Finn struggled to find his footing throughout and never managed to get the offense into any kind of rhythm.
Trench Warfare Won in One Direction
The numbers from the trenches told the full story. Rhein Fire registered four sacks while the Lights managed none. Paris converted zero third downs into first downs and generated just 24 passing yards and seven first downs across the entire game. The Fire dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and the result was never really in doubt. Eight penalties for 55 yards on the Lights side made a difficult afternoon even harder.
What’s Next
For the Paris Lights the situation is simple. With four games remaining they almost certainly need to win all of them to keep their playoff hopes alive. That run starts in Week 11 at the Firenze Red Lions. Rhein Fire, meanwhile, host the Alpine Rams for a second time this season, looking to keep rolling in front of their home fans.
