Veteran coach Richard Kent takes over as defensive coordinator of the London Warriors
The London Warriors continue to build an impressive coaching staff, announcing Richard Kent as their defensive coordinator ahead of their inaugural AFLE season. Kent arrives with over 40 years of coaching experience and a trophy cabinet that speaks for itself.
A career spanning multiple levels of the game
Kent’s coaching journey has taken him from high school football in America through some of the most respected programs in the sport. He has coached at well-known colleges including Clemson University and has experience in the Canadian Football League, where he claimed the Grey Cup in 2013. His time in NFL Europe was equally successful, winning four World Bowls as defensive coordinator and secondary coach, establishing himself as one of the top defensive minds in the European game.
Back-to-back championships with Rhein Fire
Most recently Kent spent three seasons with Rhein Fire, where he made an immediate impact as defensive coordinator in 2023 and 2024, helping the team win back-to-back championships. In 2025 he stepped up to head coach, guiding the Fire to the playoffs in what was a challenging transitional season.
The right man to build the Warriors defense
With his wealth of experience across high school, college, the CFL, NFL Europe and professional European football, Kent brings a complete and well-rounded defensive coaching profile to the London Warriors. His proven ability to build championship-caliber defenses makes him one of the most significant appointments the Warriors have made as they prepare for their first ever AFLE season.
