Vienna Vikings strengthen pass rush with Alejandro „Iceman“ Fernandez
The Vienna Vikings have signed their third and final Spanish homegrown player, adding one of the most talented pass rushers in European football to their roster. Alejandro „Iceman“ Fernandez arrives with a point to prove and the talent to back it up.
Five years of European football experience
Fernandez spent five seasons playing across Europe, lining up for the Barcelona Dragons, the Madrid Bravos and, notably, the Vikings‘ rivals Rhein Fire. At his best he was one of the most dangerous pass rushers on the continent, earning back-to-back All-Star nominations in 2022 and 2023. However, injuries in the two most recent seasons limited his ability to make the same impact, leaving him with unfinished business heading into 2026.
Hungry to remind everyone of his quality
After two difficult years on the sidelines, Fernandez arrives in Vienna with a chip on his shoulder and a clear mission. The 24-year-old wants to show European football exactly why he belongs among the best players on the continent, and the Vikings have given him the perfect platform to do exactly that.
A formidable pass rush unit
At the Vikings, Fernandez joins a pass rush group that is already full of talent. Alongside Swiss Pierre-Yves Majo and Japanese I-Import Sean Trotter, the Vikings have assembled a pass rush trio that could cause serious problems for opposing offenses throughout the 2026 season.
With Fernandez now on board, the Vienna Vikings have completed their Spanish homegrown signings and continue to build one of the most exciting rosters in the AFLE.
