The American Football League Europe has officially announced the conference structure for its inaugural 2026 season. The eight teams in the league will be divided into two conferences, creating the competitive framework for the regular season.
The structure ensures regional balance while also creating exciting matchups across Europe.
North/West Conference
The North/West Conference brings together teams from Western and Northern parts of Europe. The four franchises competing in this conference are:
London Football Team
Paris Lights
Rhein Fire
Alpine Rams
South/East Conference
The South/East Conference includes teams from Central and Eastern Europe. The following franchises will compete in this conference:
Berlin Thunder
Wroclaw Panthers
Vienna Vikings
Firenze Red Lions
The road to the playoffs
Teams will face their conference opponents twice during the regular season, once at home and once away. In addition, each team will play six interconference games, facing every team from the opposite conference at least once.
At the end of the regular season, the top two teams from each conference will advance to the playoffs. The conference winners will earn the number one seeds and host the semifinal games.
With the conference structure now confirmed, another important piece of the AFLE inaugural season is in place as the league continues its preparations for kickoff.
