Andrea Poglietelli strengthens Berlin Thunder’s defensive front

The Berlin Thunder have wasted no time following the signing of Felix Ntwa, announcing another defensive lineman in 26-year-old Italian Andrea Poglietelli. Poglietelli arrives with a strong domestic background and European experience to add further depth to the Thunder’s defensive front.

A proven performer in Italian football

Before making his move to European football, Poglietelli built his reputation with the Guelfi Firenze in the Italian Football League, where he was twice named the Italian champion sack leader. That kind of recognition at the top of Italian football, combined with his involvement with the Italian national team, underlines his standing as one of the country’s top defensive linemen.

European experience with the Helvetic Mercenaries

Most recently Poglietelli lined up for the Helvetic Mercenaries, where he appeared in five games and recorded 17 tackles, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. While his time in Switzerland was brief, his impact was clear and his ability to disrupt opposing offenses was on show throughout.

With Poglietelli now on board, the Berlin Thunder are building a defensive front with serious depth and a combination of experience and physicality that opposing offenses will need to prepare for carefully ahead of the 2026 season.
