Firenze Red Lions sign Paul Wulff as special teams coordinator
The Firenze Red Lions have filled the gap left by Bill Shuey’s promotion to head coach, appointing experienced veteran Paul Wulff as special teams coordinator. Wulff will also take on the role of offensive line coach, adding further depth to the Red Lions‘ coaching staff.
A player turned coach with a rich background
Wulff knows the game from both sides of the sideline. As a player he lined up as a center at Washington State University before going on to play professionally for the Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks and the New York/New Jersey Knights. That playing experience gives him a firsthand understanding of the game that he has since carried into a long and successful coaching career.
Decades of coaching experience
After transitioning to coaching, Wulff built an impressive resume across college football and beyond. He held coaching positions at Eastern Washington, Washington State, South Florida and Iowa State, among others, and most recently worked at California Polytechnic State University. Perhaps the standout entry on his resume is a stint as offensive assistant with the San Francisco 49ers under head coach Jim Harbaugh, giving him a taste of the NFL level.
Completing the Red Lions‘ coaching staff
With Wulff now in place, the Firenze Red Lions have a well-rounded and highly experienced coaching staff heading into their debut season in 2026. His arrival alongside head coach Bill Shuey, offensive coordinator Mike Mitchell and the rest of the staff gives the Red Lions a strong foundation both on and off the field.
