Homegrown NFL player Bernhard Seikovits returns to the Vienna Vikings

The Vienna Vikings have completed a major move by bringing tight end Bernhard Seikovits back to Vienna. Following Florian Bierbaumer’s move to the UFL, Seikovits is expected to step in and fill an important role in the offense.

For the Vikings, this signing is not only about talent – it is also about identity and history.

A true product of the Vikings system

Seikovits played for the Vienna Vikings from 2007 to 2021 and developed through the club’s talent program. He is a true homegrown player who understands the culture and standards of the organization.

Through the NFL International Player Pathway Program, the 1.97-meter Austrian earned an opportunity with the Arizona Cardinals. He spent four years as part of the Cardinals organization, gaining valuable experience at the highest level of football.

During his time in the NFL environment, Seikovits continued to develop his athletic ability, physical strength, and professional mindset.

Returning home

For Seikovits, the decision to return to Vienna was personal.

“Vienna has always been my home. When it became clear that my time in the United States was coming to an end, there was a great opportunity to fulfill my dream of playing for the Vikings again. Of course, I listened to and evaluated offers from other teams, but from a player’s perspective, I believe the Vienna Vikings offer the most professional environment in Europe. I’m extremely happy to be a Viking again.”

His return strengthens the Vikings offense and brings leadership and experience to the locker room.

A special signing for the Vikings

Head Coach Chris Calaycay also shared his excitement about the move.

“What a homecoming! What a signing! We are excited to have Bernhard with us. He’s an outstanding player with an impressive career and an inspiring story. Having him back in Vienna is exciting for us. I am very happy that Bernhard is a Viking again.”

With Bernhard Seikovits back in purple and gold, the Vienna Vikings welcome home one of their own – a player shaped in Vienna, tested in the NFL, and ready to make an impact once again.
