Douglas Fryer joins Alpine Rams as offensive coordinator
The Alpine Rams continue to strengthen their coaching staff, appointing Douglas Fryer as offensive coordinator ahead of the 2026 season. Fryer joins head coach Joshua Fitzgerald and defensive coordinator Everett Withers to complete a coaching trio with serious experience and ambition.
A coaching career built on explosive offense
Fryer is a young but already well-established coach with a strong track record in European football. Most recently he spent three years as head coach of the Berlin Rebels in the German Football League, where he became known for building an explosive and versatile offense. His ability to create dynamic offensive systems makes him an ideal fit for the coordinator role at the Alpine Rams.
A long journey in coaching
Fryer’s connection to football goes back a long way. A former wide receiver himself, he took his first coaching position back in 2012. His talent on the sideline was quickly recognized and in 2018 he was appointed head coach of the Paderborn Dolphins. Further coaching stints in Poland and Germany followed, each adding to his experience and reputation as a coach who can make a real impact wherever he works.
The next step in the AFLE
Now Fryer makes the step up to the American Football League Europe, taking on the responsibility of running the Alpine Rams offense. With Fitzgerald leading the program and Withers handling the defense, the Rams have assembled a well-rounded and experienced coaching staff as they prepare for their debut season in 2026.
