Homegrown speedster Yannick Mayr extends his contract with the Vienna Vikings

The Vienna Vikings and Yannick Mayr will continue their journey together, as the Austrian wide receiver has extended his contract with the team. Known for his speed and big-play ability, Mayr will once again go on the hunt for touchdowns for the Vikings in the American Football League Europe.

A dangerous weapon on offense and special teams

Mayr is not only a fast and reliable wide receiver, but also a dangerous return specialist. His explosiveness makes him a constant threat both in the passing game and on special teams.

The 29-year-old strengthens an already strong receiver group that includes Darrell Stewart Jr. and Noah Touré, giving Vikings quarterback Ben Holmes another important target in the offense.

Familiarity with the coaching staff

Vikings Offensive Coordinator Jordan Neuman already knows Mayr very well. The two worked together for two seasons with the Stuttgart Surge before Mayr joined the Vikings ahead of the 2025 season.

This existing connection helps Mayr fit smoothly into the offensive system and allows the coaching staff to use his strengths effectively.

Ready to bounce back

Last season, Mayr recorded 572 receiving yards and three touchdowns for the Vikings. However, he missed several games due to injury.

Now fully focused on the upcoming season, Mayr is determined to return strong and show once again what he can do on the field.

With Yannick Mayr staying in Vienna, the Vikings keep a proven homegrown playmaker who adds speed, experience, and versatility to their offense.
