Vienna Vikings sign former Panthers receiver Darrell Stewart Jr.
The Vienna Vikings continue their roster planning and have announced the signing of their second offensive American player, wide receiver Darrell Stewart Jr.
Productive season with the Panthers
Stewart Jr. played last season in Wroclaw, where he impressed with many strong performances and caught the attention of the Vikings. During the season, he recorded 89 receptions for 1,098 yards and 13 touchdowns, proving to be one of the most dangerous targets on offense.
Vikings offensive coordinator Jordan Neuman is pleased to reunite with the receiver and highlighted his impact:
“Darrell Stewart has been one of the top offensive weapons in all of Europe since he arrived in Germany back in 2021. It’s exciting to reunite with DJ and build off the two years we have already spent together. DJ brings a lot to a football team both on and off the field, which makes this a great signing for Vienna on many levels.”
New connection in Vienna
In Vienna, Stewart Jr. will now work with quarterback Ben Holmes, who recently extended his contract with the Vikings. The team hopes the new quarterback-receiver connection will add another dynamic element to the offense.
Roster taking shape
With the extensions of Ben Holmes and defensive back Amani Dennis, and now the signing of Darrell Stewart Jr., the Vikings are close to completing their American player spots. Only one American roster spot currently remains open.
The addition of Stewart Jr. gives the Vienna Vikings another proven playmaker as they prepare for the upcoming The League Europe season.
