Rhein Fire sign NFL cornerback Christian Matthew, place Cam’ron Kelly on IR

Rhein Fire have made an early roster move before the start of the season. Due to an injury, American defensive back Cam’ron Kelly has been placed on injured reserve. To replace him, the team has signed NFL cornerback Christian Matthew.

NFL experience and strong background

Matthew was selected with the 244th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, where he also spent time on the active roster during his rookie season. Over the past three years, he has been part of several NFL organizations, including the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, and Chicago Bears, mainly contributing on their practice squads.

Most recently, Matthew was part of Orlando Storm in the UFL, continuing to gain professional experience.

New opportunity in Rhein Fire defense

Now joining Rhein Fire, Matthew steps into a talented roster and is expected to strengthen the defensive backfield. He will line up alongside players like Nazir Streater, adding depth and playmaking ability to the secondary.

With this move, Rhein Fire react quickly to the injury situation and bring in a player with high-level experience to support their defense for the upcoming season.
