Vienna Vikings sign Swiss pass rusher Pierre-Yves Majo
The Vienna Vikings have secured one of the most talented pass rushers in European football, signing 25-year-old Swiss defensive end Pierre-Yves Majo ahead of the 2026 season. Majo arrives with a growing reputation and plenty to prove after an injury-interrupted 2025 campaign.
A breakthrough season in 2024
Majo burst onto the European football scene in 2024 with the Helvetic Mercenaries, making an immediate impact in his first season at the European level. His performances earned him the ELF Defensive Rookie of the Year award as well as a place in the Second All-Star Team, a remarkable achievement for a player in his debut season.
Injury setback with the Madrid Bravos
Off the back of that impressive campaign, the Madrid Bravos brought Majo into their squad for 2025. However, an early-season injury prevented him from showing what he could do and left him with little opportunity to make his mark. Now fully fit and motivated, Majo arrives in Vienna ready to make up for lost time.
Hunting quarterbacks alongside Sean Trotter
At the Vikings, Majo will join forces with I-Import Sean Trotter on the defensive line, giving the team a young and hungry pass rush duo. With both players eager to make their mark at the highest level, opposing quarterbacks in the 2026 season could be in for a long day.
In his own words
Majo made no secret of his excitement about joining the Vikings: „Before playing in the ELF, I was already following the league closely, and I was a big fan of Vienna, especially after their championship title in 2022. It’s a real honor for me to now have the opportunity to play for this organization in AFLE. I’ve always admired the team, its achievements, and its mentality. When I received the offer, it was an easy decision, especially with the coaching staff they have.“
A roster taking shape
With Majo’s signing, the Vienna Vikings continue to build an impressive roster ahead of the 2026 season. All American roster spots and the international import spot are filled, and the Vikings have now occupied six of their nine European roster spots. The picture in Vienna is becoming clearer with every signing.
