Paris Lights sign Canadian quarterback Evan Hillock

The Paris Lights have found their quarterback for the first season of the American Football League Europe. The French franchise signed Canadian quarterback Evan Hillock, becoming the first team in AFLE history to bring in a Canadian player at the quarterback position.

With this move, the Paris Lights take a different path compared to other teams in the league, as they are currently the only franchise choosing a non-American quarterback to lead their offense.

A successful college career in Canada

Hillock recently finished his college career in Canadian college football, where he played for the Western Mustangs. During his time with the program, he became one of the most successful quarterbacks in school history.

He helped lead the Mustangs to a national championship and was named the Most Valuable Player of the championship game. Hillock also won three conference championships, was named Rookie of the Year, and earned two All-Star selections.

Over his college career, he became the school’s all-time leader in touchdown passes with 90 and finished second in program history in passing yards with 11,846. His overall record as a starting quarterback was an impressive 45–6.

Strong production on the field

In five seasons at the college level, Hillock appeared in 50 regular season games. During that time, he completed 762 passes for 11,547 yards, throwing 88 touchdowns with 25 interceptions.

These numbers underline his consistency and his ability to lead a high-powered offense.

A new chapter in Europe

Hillock had previously signed a contract with the St. Joseph Goats in the Arena League, but he has now decided to take the step to Europe and join the Paris Lights for the upcoming season.

By signing a Canadian quarterback, the Paris Lights also keep additional flexibility within their roster structure. Alongside American wide receiver Tristen Wallace, Hillock becomes another international addition while the team still maintains open a American roster spot on offense.

With the signing of Hillock, only one International player spot across the league remains unfilled. The London Football Team is currently the only franchise that has not yet announced a player for that category.
