Berlin Thunder strengthen defensive backfield with Spanish homegrown Pablo De Diego
The Berlin Thunder continue to build their defense, signing Spanish defensive back Pablo De Diego thanks to the Spanish solidarity rule. De Diego spent the last two seasons with the Madrid Bravos and would have continued there in 2026 had the club not paused their operations for the upcoming season. The Thunder moved quickly to secure his signature and add another quality piece to their secondary.
Proven production with the Bravos
De Diego made his mark during his time in Madrid, appearing in 22 gameday roster spots and recording 37 tackles, one interception and five pass breakups. He also gained valuable playoff experience with the Bravos, giving him a taste of high-pressure football that will serve him well in the AFLE.
Joining a talented defensive backfield
De Diego steps into a defensive backfield that is rapidly becoming one of the most talented in the league. Alongside Kessawn Abraham, Felix Proulx, Andy Vera, Will Johnson II and Kosi Onyeka, the Berlin Thunder have assembled a deep and experienced secondary that is shaping up to be a real strength of the team heading into the 2026 season.
With De Diego on board, the Berlin Thunder continue to add quality and depth to a defense that has serious ambitions for the upcoming season.
