CFL veteran Justin Howell strengthens Rhein Fire secondary
Rhein Fire continue to shape their roster for the 2026 season with the signing of Canadian defensive back Justin Howell. With this move, the Fire fill their I-Import roster spot and add valuable experience to their secondary.
Earlier, the Wroclaw Panthers announced Canadian tight end Dylan St. Pierre as their I-Import player, while the Alpine Rams signed Canadian linebacker Harold Miessan. Rhein Fire now follow the same path by bringing in another Canadian talent.
Seven years of CFL experience
Justin Howell brings a wealth of professional experience to the Fire defense. The 32-year-old spent seven seasons in the Canadian Football League, playing for the Ottawa Redblacks.
During his time in the CFL, Howell established himself as a reliable defensive back with strong instincts and leadership on the field.
Strengthening an already talented secondary
In Rhein Fire’s defense, Howell joins an already strong defensive backfield that includes American players Cam’ron Kelly and Nazir Streater.
With his experience and physical style of play, Howell is expected to add stability and depth to the Fire secondary as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
